PEACE WITH GOD

One of the most frequently cited wishes expressed by children, politicians and even beauty contestants is their desire for “world peace.” While that wish is certainly commendable, doesn’t it make sense to look at our own hearts to see if peace dwells there? How can we hope to spread peace throughout the world when we don’t even possess it in our souls?

The Bible tells us that God is the source of peace and that His peace is freely available through Jesus Christ. The problem is, our sinful ways of thinking and behaving have separated us from God and damaged our relationships with other people. But Jesus died on the cross to pay the price for our sins and because He rose from the dead, we can have forgiveness and a new life. If you want to get close to the Lord and enjoy His peace, please follow these steps:

A. Admit you are a sinner.
"There is no one righteous, not even one ... for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." Romans 3:10,23

Ask God's forgiveness.
"Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." Romans 10:13

B. Believe in Jesus
(Put your trust in Him) as your only hope of salvation.
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16

Become a child of God by receiving Christ.
"To all who receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God." John 1:12

C. Confess that Jesus is your Lord.
"If you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Romans 10:9
